The adoption took place in 1907‚ and the lady’s son is interested in finding out about her parentage‚ as she died without knowing anything about her birth parents and he is now in a nursing home. I was told her birth mother lived or worked in Newmarket‚ Victoria‚ and that the name Bridgford was relevant‚ although she never legally had Bridgford in her legal name. Ashe was adopted by my great grandparents Peter and Margaret Smith. Some years ago I was told that all adoptions about that time were done through the local police station but the records were in disarray so I had no luck in finding them.
