My Mother Michelle Egelston and her partner at the time Rico Wright gave up a baby girl to a Polynesian family in Salt Lake City, Utah from 1995-1997 in that time frame. This girl would be half white and half black but could pass for an islander. We do believe the family was of LDS faith and I think my mother contacted an adoption LDS service agency or possibly a Catholic one. This girl would have been the couples only child at the time.
