I am searching on behalf of my grandmother‚ Victoria Anne Herne Griffiths. Her mother‚ Mae Victoria Herne (b. May 26 in St. Regis Mohawk Reservation) died (suspected murdered) on December 26‚ 1942 while they were living in New York City. She possibly died in Yonkers. Victoria (adoptee) was put into an orphanage for an unknown amount of time until she was taken in by her grandfather‚ Thomas Herne and brought back to St. Regis Mohawk Reservation in Akwesasne‚ NY. Her father’s identity has never been revealed‚ and she does not remember what the name of the orphanage was. She is seeking any information you can provide on the orphanage she was in‚ who brought her there‚ when she was taken back to the reservation by her grandfather‚ and if there is any information on who the father is.
