Female born7/22/64 at Seton hospital and adopted from the Home if the Holy Infancy in Austin Texas Travis county. From the social workers report my birth mother completed her paperwork for HHI 3/9/64 and she was about 5 months along at the time and had seen a doctor for prenatal care. Her estimated due date was June 26 1964 (July was initially written on the paperwork but then crossed out and replaced with June ). After the initial visit in March,HHI did not hear from her again until she arrived at the hospital for delivery. She reported that she had been working and was not able to receive medical care during the last few months. I was born on July 22, 1964 at 6:37 am at seton hospital in Austin Texas. I weighed 8lbs 3oz, 19" long. My birth father was 20 years old, Catholic and Anglo. His occupation was military. He had reddish hair, brown eyes and a fair complexion. The social workers notes also indicated that my birth mother knew my birth father "for about 6 months and did not seem to know him well". She did not know an address for him. The social worker found it difficult to get information from my birth mother correctly. Later on the notes indicated that my birth father was "kicked out of " where he was stationed for unspecific reasons. IT WAS NOT CLEAR IF HE KNEW OF THE PREGNANCY. Upon her visit in march, my birth mother asked for prenatal care while living out. It was her intention to place me for adoption. She chose to "Live Out" of the program instead of residing at the home. The home did not hear from her again until the morning she arrived at the hospital for delivery on 7/21/64. It seemed she had changed her mind and was no longer expecting to place me for adoption. Also noted was that she gave the social worker 5$ saying she had more and wanted to get it from the bank after she left nothing more was mentioned of this. My birth mother was able to visit with me before signing the relinquishment papers. The file indicated that she showed little signs of trauma as she had prepared herself to place me for adoption from the start. Her aunt had allegedly wanted to keep me but having 5 or more children of her own, that she could not properly take care of me then. My birth mother felt that this was not a good plan. My birth mother also had 2 other children a son placed for adoption who had turned two that year, and a four year old daughter who was in the custody of the juvenile court. The notes are a bit "incongruous", stating the father of the child she relinquished her rights to the year before (assuming this is referring to the two year old son) was NOT the same birth father as her current pregnancy. The worker reported that "she was not physically able to carry on a longer conversation at the time seen, therefore, help was minimal. No further contact was made by her after delivery and discharge from the hospital. My birth mother was 22, catholic and latin. Her level of education was the 8th grade. She was 5’2" and 95 lbs. brown hair, brown eyes and a medium complexion. Her parents ages were unknown. The file stated the father apparently "deserted the family". My birth mother had one brother, 29 who worked at a local discount drug store. Also 2 sisters ages 24 & 18. Both stayed at home. My file date is 8/19/64 and my birth number is 142-64-144893. Thank you for taking the time to read this. Any contact would be considered a gift.
