Hi‚ Shortly before my Dad‚ Henry Emerson Spencer‚ died in 2005‚ he had asked me to search for my half brother. This is what he had told me: Shortly after he had enlisted in the Army Air Corp in 1941‚ he had been sent to Denton Texas for training as a gunner. He met a lovely lady named Dorothy Fern Stone‚ they dated and became “intimate”‚ my Dad was deployed overseas to Indo China‚ Burma. He was shot down twice‚ luckily he walked away from both crashes but he became a POW. When he was released he was taken to the psych Ward at the nearest VA in Burma. It was during this time frame that my Dad received a letter from Ms Stone telling him that she had been pregnant and had a son. My Dad once released and sent back home‚ went in search of both Dorothy and his son - he had wanted to offer marriage. No one would say where she was or what happened to either her or their child. Dad didn’t have any choice but to move on with his life. Yet‚ he never forgot Dorothy or their son. I didn’t know my Dad as I was growing up‚ my parents were married in February 1949 and I was born nine months later. Dad suffered from PTSD and it caused problems within the marriage plus Dad was 11 years older than my Mom. Mom was very angry and hurt‚ so‚ I wasn’t allowed to know him or any of his Family. I sought him when I was older‚ didn’t find him til I was 32 years old. Dad missed out on knowing either of his biological children. He did marry a 2nd time but Lorine couldn’t have children. They both were Mormon so they adopted 4 children. I do have so much more to tell my brother if he’s out there and wants to know. Our Spencer line is full of History and goes back a long way. I hope that he is alive since he would be 6 years older than me‚ or if he was married‚ and had children or grandchildren. I’d like to be in contact if he chooses. I always wanted an older brother. I never married but I have one son and one grandchild. Sheilah Spencer
