My name was Dawna, and I was born in San Antonio, TX. By the time I was 2 weeks old, I’d been adopted by my parents through Lutheran Social Services in Austin, TX. I know very little of my birth mother, since mine was a closed adoption. After having my redacted records opened a few years ago, I learned that she’d had preeclampsia. I also know she wrote letters to our social worker up until around my 7th birthday. There is so much more I’d like to share, but this is what I’m able to for now.
