My mother was adopted in Houston, Texas in September 1944. Her adoptive family was Fred and Elsie Mills. Supposedly her biological mother was Irish with red hair, apparently named Joann Miller, maiden name McGonagal. Mrs. Miller lived with the adoptive parents during the last months of her pregnancy. It was a private adoption. She then moved to San Jose, CA and may have had 6 other children. My mother believes that Mrs. Miller appeared on the TV show ’Queen for a Day’ sometime in the mid 1950s - early 1960s. The father was supposedly Italian, possibly in the Navy or in some nautical profession.
