I am searching for my mother’s half-sister. Her father told her she had a sister who looked just like her but with blue eyes and black hair. After he died‚ my mother found out the story was true when she found an old photograph of him and the mother. His name was Dupre A. Lejeune from Richard‚ Louisiana (he was a Cajun). The mother’s name was Hazel Lavergne Dugas (she was married to another soldier at the time). They met in Lake Charles‚ LA after his discharge from the Army in Feb. 1945. He came home to Richard and married my grandmother. Mom was told that Hazel came to his parents’ house to show him the baby but was met at the door by 2 of his older sisters and told to leave. When searching‚ she was told only bits and pieces in secrecy because no one wanted her to know the truth (it was very hush hush back then) but an old uncle told her that her father did indeed know this lost daughter and had seen her and that my mother looked just like her. We have been searching for over 50 years! We even located the mother‚ Hazel before her death and she denied it all. All the elders who knew the truth took the secret to their grave and my mother has been desperate to find her ever since! We know Hazel was married at least 3 times in LA and TX. We know she abandoned both sets of children she had with 2 of her husbands‚ although she went back for the second set. We also know she had a sister in Texas.
