The home for unwed mothers that my mother took me to was in Abilene‚ Texas. It was run by the Church of Christ. I have no idea what hospital they took me to but they did call my mother in time for her to fly there from Lubbock‚ Texas and to be there in time for my daughter's birth. I was in the hospital for quite a few days because the baby was not a term baby. I was surrounded by wonderful people throughout the entire process and my mother could not have been more supportive. She knew that it broke my heart to have to give up my child. I also had extremely close relationships with the girls who were in my group home as well as the Church of Christ women who gave luncheons for us every week at their own homes.
