My mom gave birth to a baby girl we think on Feb. 17‚ 1958 at the Texas Baptist Home for Unwed Mothers in San Antonio‚ TX. The baby was taken away for adoption immediately after birth. Mom didn't see her except from a distance. The records for the adoption were lost in a warehouse fire some time in the '70s or '80s. Mom's name was Martha Jane Hawkins. She had a congenital heart defect that could affect her offspring‚ though neither my brother nor I developed it. If any of this sounds like it might be part of your story‚ please let me know.
