My grandmother was Winifred Cotton and she told us that she was in an orphanage when she was 12 as her parents had passed away. She also insisted that she had a twin sister but we have no name for the sister. Winifred passed away in 2002 and her daughter, Maggie, (my mother) has also died (2016) without knowing if any of her mother’s family survive.
