My Korean name is Yoon Jee Youn. I was born December 1990. My birth mother and birth father were young when they had me. Maybe early twenties or younger. My parents were not married. I was born in a hospital in Seoul, and I have a sister who I believe is a year older than me. If I remember right, our first names are similar or shared. My adoption file said we were very close and my sister took care of me. We were placed for adoption at the same time, but my mother went back and got her shortly after. I do not have my adoption file to see more specifics, but I remember reading that my father liked to sing and he was very charismatic. The American adoption agency, AIAA helped my adoptive parents find me. About 8 months after I’d been adopted, my birth mother wrote me a letter that was typed up and sent to my parents’ house by AIAA. She told me the meaning of my name, and hoped I wouldn’t be angry with her when I grew up. I could not be mad at her. I have thought about her and my sister my entire life. I am happy and I am still working hard to be a good daughter. I would like to update this message once I’m able to get my adoption file and add more specific information. I will be in Seoul studying this summer and will try to find more information once I’m there.
