My eldest aunt‚ Josephine Kirk‚ was born on April 16‚ 1935 and adopted out of the family sometime in the late 1930’s to early 1940’s. We think around 1937 or 1938. She was born in Spartanburg‚ South Carolina at the General Hospital on North Church St. We have Josephine’s original birth certificate and recently uncovered divorce paperwork of her parents that confirm she was adopted "by other people". She may have stayed in the Greenville area.
