Hi I am researching my family history and as yet have had little to no luck of tracing the background to my Grandmother’s birth‚ upbringing etc. She was born 27th April 1926. She had a broad Scottish accent so would assume she was living there for quite a while. Not sure if she was born in Scotland or adopted out to a family or home in Scotland. Arbroath and Edinburgh have been mentioned. She was in the WAAF and worked as a Land Girl‚ I cannot find any evidence of this so have contacted the RAF for clarification. My Grandmother met my Grandfather (a German POW) in Coventry and they never married‚ although she took his family name of Witt. They went on to have 4 children. Unfortunately my Grandmother died in 1964 from Cancer so I never got to actually meet with her. I visit her grave as often as I can and would dearly love to find out any information.
