I’m looking for my sister who was named Amy Winifred Hinton at birth. Her birth mother had the same name and lived in St Boswells in the Scottish Borders. She was born on 2 August 1953 at the Simpson Memorial Hospital in George Square‚ Edinburgh. I’m not sure of the circumstances of the adoption‚ but our mother’s husband‚ James Smith‚ isn’t named as the father either on Amy’s birth certificate or on mine. I was adopted straight from the hospital after 2 or 3 days‚ so I’m assuming the situation for Amy was much the same.
