My Grandmother had a baby girl born Co Down but was with her in Edinburgh in the 1921 census my Grandmother is listed as head of the house and both she and the baby are called Pansy Stevenson !! By the time my mother is born in 1922 my Grandmother uses her own name as Elizabeth Coyle née Reilly . There was always a suspicion that my Grandmother had been forced to Marry and had a baby . She lived in Dalmeny in Scotland before landing in Co Down where she says her daughter is born then comes to Edinburgh with her 2 sisters and a brother where she says the Nuns helped her find accommodation and work . I would love to know what happened to the baby .my grandmother went on to have 6 other daughter’s and did not use her mother’s name which was Sarah Jane Reilly nee McGrath and wondered if she called the baby after her then chose to use the name Pansy for and herself to hide them from someone?
