She was born at St. Vincent’s hospital for Unwed Mothers. My mother was made to surrender her for adoption via a meeting at the Catholic Children’s Bureau, Archdiocese of Philadelphia, located at 1706 Summer Street in Philadlphia. The request for her to appear with her mother to sign "the necessary surrender" was made in a letter dated 9/8/48, by Sister Marie of the Holy Trinity, General Supervisor. The letter requested them to appear at the Sister’s office on 9/11/48. (I do also have the name given to her at birth as indicated in the Phila. Juvenile Court Records, a summons dated 5/25/48 for her grandmother to appear in court on 6/1/48. )
