My son was born 10-16-1982 Caucasian with blonde fuzz blue eyes. Born at St. Vincent Hospital now AHN in Erie PA Erie County‚ PA. Dr. William Cohen delivered him. He was named William Joseph Lay. The adoption was finalized in November 1982 at the Courthouse against my will under duress. I had changed my mind to keeping him-not adoption-in the hospital but Catholic Social Services still took him and my mother forced me into relinquishment and had sent me away to live in a horrible home for unwed mothers. My parents were both high profile people well known in the city which we lived and were divorcing at the time. My stepfather was a trial attorney and was in a messy divorce with my mother. It was her who forced this processing of my legal matters‚ fighting with me the whole pregnancy. I was 17 when I conceived but turned 18 while pregnant. My decision to change my mind should have been honored. I contacted Catholic Charities since then and tried to contact the adoptive parents with slammed doors. This was AFTER the 2018 PA Adoption Act 101 passed allowing me to seek him. I was never able to have any more children due to infertility and complications after childbirth. My mom died of ovarian cancer at age 61. I am now 60+ and my son turns 42 on October 16‚ 2024! ⁰ How is it I am still being shamed and punished over 40 years later‚ to not knowing my one and only child? I need to find him and see if he knew he was adopted‚ and if lies were built up about me as his mother‚ slandering me by the adoptive parents. I must know him and tell him my side of the story.
