My grandmother was born July 9 1902 : that’s the date she always used. She was adopted by the Zell’s Fred and Minnie Young Zell ‚ they settled in Youngstown Ohio but the Zell’s were also from Pa. Thelma adoption had to be after 1910 but before 1919 she was not in the Zell’s 1910 census but was in 1920 I have been told many things none I can prove. I was told her family was from Switzerland‚ I was told she was adopted from an orphanage in Cleveland Ohio. I have been searching for her birth family name for over 2 decades. I did DNA in me and mtDNA to narrow my search. I located people related to her but we don’t know how . Just want for genealogy purposes want to know where she came from. Was she a relative of the Zell’s? Was it a random adoption? Please help me solve this mystery. Thelma St Clair Zell knew she was adopted‚ refused to talk about it and passed away at age 94 in 1996 She married around age 20-21 to Harry Khale Wilson Goss. His family was also from Pa and settled here in Youngstown Ohio. The photo in white i when Thelma was possibly adopted as the orphanage in Cleveland had young girls dress this way. The other picture is when Thelma was 18 or 19 years old .
