My daughter was born at Magee Hospital in Pittsburgh‚ with Dr. Saul Berg attending. It was about the 10th of December. She was held in the hospital for a day or 2 because of something with her heart. When she was brought to the Booth Memorial Home nursery‚ I was permitted to hold her for a short while. She stayed in the nursery at Booth. I left the day after she was brought back. About 2 months later‚ I went into the Catholic Charities office in Pittsburgh to sign papers. They were not adoption papers but papers giving up my claim to her. I finished college and began my teaching career.. I never married‚ it didn’t seem the right thing for me. My mother never mentioned her granddaughter until 3 years before she died. My mother was in the early stages of dementia‚ so I guess she had been reminiscing. She asked if I had made any provisions in my will for "Amy". Why such a question?
