I always thought I was the oldest of 3 siblings‚ but I recently discovered I have an older sister that our parents (who were very young and poor at the time) were pressured to give up for adoption. Shortly afterward‚ they married each other and had me in 1981. They left letters with the local Catholic adoption agency in Erie‚ PA‚ (who only offered strictly closed adoptions) just to inform the agency and the adoptive parents that they were no longer just some random teenagers‚ that they were still together‚ married‚ and (somewhat) financially stable‚ as well as to ask that if -heaven forbid- the adoptive parents were ever unable to care for her‚ to please contact them rather than put her into the foster care system. If circumstances ever allowed it‚ they would love to have their family be whole. Unfortunately‚ the response they received was an immediate cease and desist/no contact order. They still aren't sure if it the threat of legal action came from the adoptive parents themselves or if it came from the agency (or whether the adoptive parents ever saw the letters). - - - - - Sister‚ if you ever read this‚ our family just wants you to know they have never stopped loving‚ remembering‚ and praying for you. Sadly‚ they were never able to give or learn your name and only ever knew as “Baby Girl Kinsel” which was on your baby name sign in the hospital. So that is what they still lovingly call you. Together‚ all these years they have quietly and reverently celebrated your birthday of May 27th. Now your two younger brothers and sister do as well. - If you are willing‚ we would love so very much to meet you and be reunited‚ to just know you. But even more than that‚ we hope that you are happy and know that you are loved.
