My mother Rena Tamati gave birth to a boy on Christmas Day of either 1970 or 1971. His name was Jason. Her story is that she adopted him to a couple living next door as they would babysit both Jason and my older sister Deanna. Mum has said Jason’s dad was in the army at Burnham and that he was from Ravensbourne in Dunedin. To my understanding it was an open adoption with both my mother and Jason’s father signing the adoption papers at the time.
