I was born at the old St Vincent's Hospital in Portland on 11/16/1954. My adoptive parent were Margery and Eugene Jones. The hospital wouldn't let my birth parents pick me up from there because they weren't Catholic. Multnomah County Judge Long oversaw my transfer in his chambers 2 or 3 days after I was born. My birth mother was Canadian and had 4 other older children. I think her name was Sally LaCroix‚ born in 1913‚ and was living in an apartment on SE 15th and Main in Portland because my great aunt who lived next door told my adoptive mother about my birth mother being pregnant with me. I guess it was called a grey market adoption since it didn't go through normal channels. The state of Oregon has limited information but has the transcript of a meeting between my birth mother and a person from the State doing a follow-up report date 2/14/1955. I think that's all I have.
