My birth mother was born in New Brunswick in 1967. She was in foster care from the age of 6 or 7. She had 6 siblings who were also placed with Family Services. One of her brothers was developmentally handicapped. Her father was an alcoholic and her mother had mental health problems. She moved to Toronto and gave birth to me at age 23. She had a son in 1983 who she raised for about 3 years and then relinquished to Children’s Aid where he became a Crown Ward.
