adoptee’s birth name was Donald Wayne VIAU adoptee was born at Brantford General Hospital at around 2 or 3 in the afternoon doctor’s name was Dr. A.D. Riddell father’s name believed to be Harry VIAU (born 14 May 1923) Harry was also apparently known as Terry SMITH, Terry VINCENT and Ted O’NEIL - Harry’s siblings were apparently Henry (from Windsor, ON), Bea (from Chatham, ON) who married Hugh IVERSON - Harry is believed to have had other illegitimate children (possible names of Daniel and Diane) - the names Loretta and Stella are also attached to this family somehow - Harry believed to have been in army during WW2 and to have received an Honourable Discharge - possibly in the fire department for either Welland, ON or Brantford at some point mother’s name was Vera May ROBBINS (born 5 Feb 1924 at Brantford General Hospital her mother was born in England in 1903) - adoptee HAS had contact with Vera before her death brother from same union called James David VIAU (born 26 Jan 1944 also at Brantford General Hospital) - adopted by his maternal grandmother whose surname was ROBBINS (or variant) the Children’s Aid Society states that Vera and Harry were only married for about 2 years Harry is believed to have remarried and had children with that wife - also in 1957 Harry went looking for James and Donald and was quite upset that they had been adopted out apparently without his permission - he mentioned to the society that he was thinking about changing his last name but no one knows if it ever happened after splitting with Harry, Vera subsequently married Albert GILBERT with whom she had a further 8 children, including 2 sets of twins, all born at Brantford General Hospital (she gave birth to the first set of twins Douglas and Sharon GILBERT on 28 Dec 1946).
