I firmly believe that my mother Margaret Jean Broadfoot gave birth before she married my father. The birth may have taken place in Montreal‚ but she lived in Guelph Ontario. I gave 1934 as the birth year but it could have been late 1933 or early 1935. I believe she may have been staying in a home for unmarried mothers in Montreal. He uncle‚ Rupert Broadfoot was a lawyer practicing in Ottawa‚ and he might well have handled the legal part. I don’t know for a fact that this all occurred but circumstances at the time very much support it. Also‚ while she was still living‚ she really discouraged any interaction between me and my great uncle‚ even though he appeared to me to be a good man. My mother’s birth date if it is important was August 10‚ 1912. I can provide more information about why I believe this to be true. I have completed the Ancestry DNA test and it is also posted at FTDNA and GedMatch.
