I was born in Tillsonburg‚ Ontario‚ Canada. Placed in a Dutch speaking foster home‚ by the Oxford County Children’s Aid. Am very grateful for the foster family‚ for caring for me for over 2yrs before my being adopted. (Feedings‚ diapers‚ baths - the most demanding years for them and my most dependant age...). I have recently read the redacted non-identifying information file from the Oxford County Children’s Aid. It stated both my biological parents suffered from schizophrenia. They met in hospital. The police removed me from their custody‚ just days old‚ in early January of 1967. My mother was 28‚ an only child‚ my father 40‚ Irish‚ with eight younger siblings. I was placed in foster care in Woodstock‚ and brought for visits with my parents over a 2yr period‚ while doctors assessed their ability to care for me‚ and for any signs of schizophrenia in me. The story devastates me‚ and has me wonder how they ever coped after it was decided to deny them custody... Am feeling I should try to find them to let them know that I’ve turned out ok: independant‚ tri-lingual‚ well-travelled a sister to 3 adopted siblings‚ two black and one white‚ an auntie and loyal friend to many. Any help towards this reunion or further information would be deeply appreciated.
