I’m looking for maternal descendents of my paternal grandfather. He was born in Montreal in 1916/17 in an orphanage. He was baptized Paul Emile. I’ve searched birth registries and found three possible baptisms from L’Hospital Misericordie from that time where parents are unknown. Through DNA I’ve found that his father was a Milton from Folkestone Kent UK. I’m speculating that a woman became pregnant during WWI and came to Canada and gave birth to him and gave him up. He was brought to Sudbury ON and spent some time being fostered by Olivene/Stonio Varieur and then given to Lillian and Charles Martel‚ eventually ending up in Children’s Aid Orphanage in Sudbury. There was never a birth certificate. My grandfather died in 1950 at approximately 33 years old. This has been a mystery to our family for many years which I’d like to solve.
