This is what my adoptive parents were told by the Catholic Children’s Aid. My birth mother was pursuing a university degree and she got pregnant. Apparently the father was a Hungarian mechanic or electrician. Relationship was serious, but her parents objected vehemently, and wanted her to give up her baby girl. Mother was of Scottish lineage. I was named Donna Sutherland on my original certificate. I was born at Scarborough General Hospital. I do want my biological parents to know that I had a marvelous, loving family originally from Northern Ireland and lived in Scarborough, and moved to Ancaster, Ontario. My mom and dad encouraged me to also go to post-graduate studies. My dad died twenty years ago, and my mum died five years ago. I am searching to discover my genetic origins. My son has developed a strong inclination to play the bagpipes, he married a very Scottish girl, and yet he knew nothing of my biological background so I am curious to discover why we have always been so drawn to the Scottish Highlands. I also was drawn to everything Scottish (was finally told in university that my natural mum was Scottish). I was raised as a Northern Irish-Canadian girl, Irish dancing, Irish music, Irish language, Irish food. Yet I still gravitated to wearing kilts, and wanting to learn Highland dancing. Interesting.... I have very blue eyes and auburn hair. People tell me I look more Scottish than Irish.
