I am David‚ the father who adopted "Paul" through the public welfare service in Cincinnati in 1971 when I was a graduate student at Ohio University in Athens. We were first designated as foster parents (We were the sixth home he had been in) who were paid the grand sum of $75 per month until we could complete the adoption. We moved to Warsaw‚ IN‚ where I taught high school‚ and we went to Cincinnati in 1972 to finalize the adoption right at the time that former president Harry Truman had died. Public offices were closed‚ so our case worker made special arrangements so we wouldn’t have to make another long trip back. I think the story of it was reported in a Cincinnati newspaper. We were told that the birth mother was white and a redhead (I think) and the birth father was black. My son Adam wants to know about his biological familyhow his mother is doing‚ what happened with the father‚ any half-siblings‚ etc.
