My father was born in Cleveland‚ OH on July 6‚ 1932 to Viola Short. She was an unmarried woman and was forced to keep my dad but he was raised as her brother until he was approximately 8 years old. The birth took place in Cleveland as she was sent to a home for unwed mothers by her parents while she was pregnant. My dad was raised by his grandparents and his given name at birth was Edward Dale Short. His adoption occurred at the approximate age of 21‚ so around 1953 by his step-father‚ Wayne Bancroft. I am searching for his biological family. His biological father's name is George Keller who lived in the Rootstown‚ Randolph‚ Ravenna area of Ohio. He never met my father but paid child support to Viola Short Bancroft until my dad turned 21 which is why he was not adopted by his step-father until the payments stopped. I am interested in knowing the family history from his biological father's family. My dad was always curious but did not have the money to hire or do investigation and now as the internet provides wide‚ easy access‚ I thought I would like to pursue my Dad's quest and find out more about his biological father's family. My father passed in 2010 never knowing his real father. I would like to be able to find out at least the history of the family even if I do not get to meet any of them. It is highly possible that the family is not even aware of my father at all. In fact‚ it is very likely.
