My Mother, Treva E. Hornby, gave birth to me, Cora Helen Henthorn, when she was 21 yrs old. My Mom lived in Grafton Ohio until she got pregnant in 1957. Her Mother Helen sent Mom to live with family friends in Trenton Michigan and I was born on March 16, 1958 at a hospital in Trenton Michigan. After I was born my Mom relocated to Monroeville Ohio in 1958. She met a man named John D. Eastman and they were married on June 20, 1959. John Eastman adopted me me shortly after he and my Mom were married. They changed my name to Cora Lynn Eastman and that’s the name on the only birth certificate I’ve ever seen. Cora Helen Henthorn was my name on the adoption papers when John Eastman adopted me. I was a little over a year old when John Eastman adopted me as his own and he has been the only father I’ve ever known. My Mom died on March 17th 2012 in a nursing home in Bellevue Ohio where she had lived for more than 20 years. I only spoke to my Mom once about who my biological father was and she didn’t want to tell me. I didn’t want to drudge up any bad memories I’m sure she still had after getting pregnant in 1957 and being sent away from her friends so I never pursued asking again. I’ve always wondered if there ever was someone out there that dated Treva Hornby from Grafton Ohio when she was 20 years old. I was conceived in July of 1957. This is the first time I have ever put any of this in writing. I don’t have my hopes up because if my Mom were still alive she would have been 80 years old on October 23, 2017.
