The last thing I heard was that my son’s adopted family had given him the name Miles. My maiden name is Smith. I am not sure who the adopted parents are or where they are located. The adoption was finalized in Burke County‚ NC and was a closed adoption through the Department of Social Services. The social worker who helped me was named Kristen Shade. I would love to meet Miles so I can let him know that I only gave him up so that he could have a life I would not have been able to provide but that it does not mean that I don’t love him or that I wouldn’t love to get to know him and be part of his life‚ if that’s something he would like as well. I also would love to thank his parents for being there for him and providing him a home when I didn’t possess the means. I am so thankful that they were able to bring him into their lives. To Miles: I am so sorry to you for making the decision that I did but only because I would never want you to hurt or feel pain because of my choices. I do hope that you have had a better life and childhood than I experienced. You are so special and deserve everything this world has to offer.
