I am helping a cousin (found via DNA testing) to locate her mother’s younger sister. The sister was born in Person County, NC to parents Bettie Mae (Lottie) Carver and James Henry Bowes. We have found a NC birth index record, but nothing beyond that. She was born in 1925. Her parents divorced in 1927. She had a brother, James, and a sister, Helen Alma, both of whom were older. The brother, we believe went with the father and the girls went with the mother, but she was not able to take care of both and either the gave the younger child up for adoption or she was taken away. We believe her name is either Olive or Ollie. The birth index is for Ollie Virginia Bowes. We believe she may have either been adopted by or later married someone with the last name of Wingo.
