My brother Joseph Kearns was put into foster care by my mother when she was alive when he was about one years old. This was done through Catholic Charities. My mother passed away when I was like four years old. I was told that the same foster family formally adopted by brother when he was 7 years old after my father (now deceased), Jerome Kearns signed over his parental rights. I was told my brother was born at Coney Island Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. My mother’s name was Mildred Borrero (maiden name) but she may have been married to my father by then so it would have been Mildred Kearns. My father worked as a correctional officer at Rikers Island.
