I am looking for a child born in West Islip NY and adopted in Florida possibly Fort Lauderdale area between 1979-80. I am this childs oldest aunt and the child was born to my younger sister whose first name begins with an A (will divulge more if you know her first name) . It was a "closed" adoption. We were told later by the nurses in the delivery room the child was a boy but this could be false. My sister was scared, father of the child had drug issues and does not know that we found out shortly after she gave birth. My sister was in her late teens and with a girlfriend when adoption possibly was arranged through Catholic Charities. There are some medical issues we would like you to know for your sake. We are originally from Long Island, New York and are of Italian Catholic descent. We have an artistic and athletic background and our body type leans towards tall and thin. My mom , this child’s grandmother, searched for years without telling my sister. There is a serious genetic medical condition passed through the males in our family that this persons first cousin died from at age 33 as well as two maternal uncles before age 50 and a male cousin at age 35.
