My name is Kristina Clarke. I was adopted through Spence Chapin adoption agency in 1991. I was born on November 21st, 1991 in Scranton, PA, and given to my adoptive parents Geraldine and Ronald Clarke. Throughout the adoption process, my parents and birth parents used aliases to protect their anonymity. My adoptive parents used the names Terri and Bill, and my birthparents used the names, Dierdre and Tim. I know that my birth mother and father were relatively young (in their early 20s), and I have a half brother that my birth father parented with another woman. From the narrative that my adoptive parents have told me, my birth mother concealed her pregnancy from her family for all 9 months. In the first year following the adoption, my parents kept in touch with my birth parents, sending pictures and updates on my growth and development. At the end of the first year, my mom stopped sending pictures. I have a letter from my birth father, signed Tim, asking my mom to send more pictures. He stated how much the updates meant to my birth mother and how much she loved me. Interestingly, throughout the letter, he refers to me as Amanda. This would have been my name if I was not adopted. I am looking to connect with either or both of my birth parents to obtain recent/current medical histories.
