We spoke when I was 18 and you flew all the way from Cali to NY to meet me. I saw you on the courthouse steps and chickened out. It took me years to understand why 1. I was a dumbass 18 year old 2. I felt I was betraying the mom who raised me - which she later confirmed. She’s dead now and I feel like the betrayal factor no longer exists.
