Back in the 60’s my father was a career U.S. military service man in Jeju. Manuel Montijo from California. I have wonderful memories of when he use to come home in his uniform. I was around 5 years old when a stranger took me away from my small island to Holt. I lost all I knew and loved in the late 60’s. I cried and had terrible nightmares for my mother to find me. My adoption papers says I’m from Seoul and I was abandoned even though this was not true. Holt told me that this was what had to be written to be adopted, even when they knew it was false. I still hold beautiful memories of my island and family. I want my mother to know I’m doing well. Thank you for your love and giving me life. Life is amazing and I hope to someday share this with you in person. Please forgive me for taking so long to search. It was too painful in the past to look back. I’m ok now. I love you! Your baby girl from Jeju.
