Hello. I can only assume that my sister Rose Williams born December 5‚ 1946 was adopted by my grandaunt Emmaline‚ Emerline‚ Emelyn Williams ( born Nov 1896). Emmaline took Rose (age 3) to New York in 1949 for the Summer vacation and never returned her. Emmaline was dating or married to a Steve Stephenson (venson). She’s without a trace after the 1940 census. Rose was said to have been living in the Brownsville Area of Brooklyn‚ New York in the late 1960’s (perhaps Grafton or Amboy Street). Emmaline’s sister‚ Clara Williams Smalls was living in Jamaica‚ NY when she passed away in 1971. I’ve searched to see if Emmaline was living near by. My mother received a letter from a Henrietta Williams of 17 Newton Street‚ Newark‚ NJ dated Sept. 4‚ 1974. Henrietta referred to her as cousin. We have no known cousin in New Jersey or the name Henrietta. I’m wondering if Henrietta is/ was Rose. I’ve researched everything from census‚ orbituraries‚ school records‚ and the former residents of 175 Newton Street. A Rose was found there with connection to SC however‚ our dna is not a match. After searching for 30 years‚ helping other people find their biological relatives even with sealed adoption records‚ I pray that God will have you make something happen for my family as I have done for others..
