On October 25,1989, my 15 year old daughter gave birth to a little boy. She had decided early in her pregnancy not to have an abortion. She went to a Catholic school, and because we were financially strapped (single parent household living in a housing project), she decided to put the child up for adoption. The social workers at the time who worked in her behalf let her know that she could keep the baby is she decided to. Being a brave little girl, she chose to let the baby have a better life with a family who were also Catholic, and who waited several years to have the opportunity to adopt a child. We worked with attorney Gil Abramson of Clifton Park to find a loving family. The baby’s biological father was fighting in the armed forces in the Middle East at the time. He wan’t her to keep the baby, but she decided to work in the best interest of the child. It was like a death to us when the baby (baby boy Baker) was sent to his new parents. We grieved for a very long time, and never gave up hope that we would find him someday. He has 3 biological siblings today. Written by maternal grandmother.
