y grandfather was born in Brooklyn, NY, according to the story we know his birth mother died in childbirth and his father (my great grandfather who was also a doctor) blamed my grandfather for her death and abandoned him at hospital. My grandfather was very ill with rickets as a baby and a doctor at the hospital gave him to a friend of his (Rebecca) who was unable to have children. She nursed him to health and raised him. Both my mother and I have taken a DNA test and had one lead that hit a wall. I believe that match was descended from a sibling of my Grandfather who was also adopted. The DNA also verified we are 100% European Jewish.
