I was born in Albany‚ NY on April 8‚ 1968. At 6 days old‚ I was placed in Renns. County Foster Care‚ and was sent to live with a foster family in Troy‚ New York. They subsequently adopted me in November 1968. Normally foster parents must wait a period of 1 year before the ability to adopt. I have been trying to find my birth mother or any birth relatives since I discovered my adoption in 1986. To my knowledge‚ my birth mother's first name is Kathy. I am not sure if she shared my last name. From all I have been told‚ my name at birth and what my foster/adoptive mother used until the adoption was final‚ was Laura Dixon. The information I had been given regarding my birth parents was that my mother was a student of SUNY Albany and my father was attending Albany Medical College. But who really knows what the truth is when people have a secret to hide! Any information at all would be helpful.
