Hello, I was born in Watertown, NY and relinquished to social services. I believe from papers that were recently found that I was in foster care while a family was being sought and not at the children’s home, but I’m not sure. The only information I have is that both of my birth parents were college students. No other information was given about my birth father. By way of medical history, my request for non-identifying information revealed only that my birth mother was allergic to LOTS of things. I have become increasingly allergic, too, and have had asthma since I was 13, although no one put that and the allergies together until recently. I have had a decent life, and if you think you might be one of my birth parents, I want you to know I am grateful for your decision if you felt a baby was something you couldn’t handle at that time. You did the right thing and I can’t imagine it was an easy decision. Or it was. Either way, I have no resentment or judgment. I have very dear friends on all three sides of the adoption equation and know in my core that every aspect of adoption is complicated and individualistic. For a large chunk of my life, I thought I would never be interested in finding out about my original identity, however the last 10 years of caring for my very sick parents have convinced me that I want, that I NEED to know about the rest of my influences: the "nature" that mitigates the "nurture." I am so very different from my adopted family in almost every way. I would love to know who you are, your background, your interests... whatever you are comfortable with sharing at whatever pace feels right. So... if you are reading this... and you think that you may be one of the people I seek, I hope you will put aside any reservations or fears you have and please, PLEASE, reach out. Many thanks for your time.
