My mom was adopted right after her birth. She was born in Manhattan, NYC, NY on 2/19/1926. She was born with a large mole on her chin. Her adoption was closed, but through some glitch she got hold of her birth certificate. The mother was listed as Beatrice Williams, 21, a clerk, artistic, and the father Benjamin Hart,19, a salesman. It stated that they were "unable to marry." Having Jewish heritage in my DNA, I am curious if it was for religious reasons they didn’t marry, or it was just a one night stand accident, etc. My mother died in 1995, I just periodically look and wonder if she had half siblings, or I have cousins or relatives on her side. She was adopted by Herbert R Moorman and Nellie Butler Moorman of East Orange NJ. In her dresser she had a little poem that someone had given to her father in a park, written about the beautiful baby with the beauty mark, ... she thought it was odd that her dad had kept it, but I immediately thought it was written by her birth mother who recognized her by the distinctive mole. The mole was removed when she was probably under 3 or 4. My mom had black hair and slightly olive skin, but scarcely enough to notice until she tanned up. She had blue eyes.
