My dad was adopted through New York Foundling Home. He was born in a Manhattan Hospital on Third Avenue (according to amended birth certificate). I got non-id information long ago that said both of his parents were Irish‚ they were about 26-27 and they already had several other children. Dad has since passed‚ yet I am still looking. Have been looking for years. EDIT: Turns out his mother was a Margaret Barrett. She was married several times (though not to my father's father). She also had many children throughout her life. Several ended up being adopted. Her last marriage was to a Henri Durant. Those children all seemed to not getting adopted out. I am fairly sure I have identified his father through DNA matches‚ yet it seems I have yet to find a direct match to him. At this point I guess I am interested in finding a line to identify his father with certainty just so that I know.
