My mother Diana (middle name Laura) was born at Runnymede Private Hospital Grafton NSW on 30 July 1945. Her birth mother was Doris Ellen Williams (maiden name Johnson)‚ she was 28yo at the time of mum’s birth and lived at 95 Fry St‚ Grafton as at August 1945. Doris was born at Ulong NSW. The birth certificate doesn’t have the father’s name but I have confirmed who he is via DNA matches to a half sibling. My Nan who adopted my mum was Grace Hilda Cook/Melvold/Render. She lived around Redfern‚ Surrey Hills & Alexandria in Sydney not far from Doris's sister's home at South Dowling Street. We don't think mum was formally adopted & would like to know how my Nan came to adopt her when she was 21yo. Mum once met 2 sisters‚ Nita who lived in Caloundra‚ Qld and Joy who was a Baptist Minister from Panania NSW.
