I am searching for my mother’s biological half-sister, who was reportedly born to Virginia Joan Sullivan on November 25, 1950, and surrendered for adoption shortly thereafter. We know the baby was a girl, and believe that she might have been named "Joan," based on information from the Virginia’s family. Baby "Joan" was reportedly born in or near Summit, New Jersey perhaps at Overlook Hospital (?) The birth mother, Virginia, likely stayed at a home or facility for unwed mothers in the area for the months prior to this baby’s birth. My mother (Mary Ann Bents maiden name Matheny, and originally named Eileen Sullivan on her original birth certificate) was born to Virginia Sullivan in Branchburg, New Jersey in September 1952, and was also surrendered for adoption. We have located relatives of her biological father through DNA analysis on Ancestry.com, but have not been able to find her half-sister. Any information you can provide is most appreciated!
