Adoptee1967NJ
I was told I was adopted through Family & Children Services in New Jersey‚ possibly Monmouth County. My adoptee birth certificate lists Trenton‚ NJ as the place of birth but I am not sure if this is correct‚ as I am told many adoptees of that era had the state capitol listed as the place of birth on their adoptee birth certificate. I was adopted in fall 1967 by Anthony and Patricia Baldassarri‚ who were living in Long Branch‚ NJ at that time. When I was old enough to start asking questions about my biological relatives‚ I was told my birth mother was around 16 years old at the time of my birth. My birth father may have been 17 or 18 at that time‚ again from what I was told. When I expressed further desire to know about my biological relatives‚ my adopted parents helped me to make an inquiry to Family & Children Services (I think this is the name of the agency that arranged my adoption) but we were told the records were sealed forever and I had no right to any of this information. The person at the agency also told me any biological relatives would be very upset to hear anything from me‚ that I was "looking for trouble" and would make my biological relatives very unhappy and angry if I was successful in finding them. They told me I had "no right to cause so much pain to innocent people"‚ my biological mother would have done her best to forget me so she could move on with her life‚ and my biological father almost certainly had no idea I existed. Needless to say‚ hearing this as a young teenager made quite an impression on me‚ and for many years I have been afraid to ask any more questions. I can now see that the person I spoke to at the agency almost certainly had her own agenda. I have also come to see that I have every right to simply ask questions‚ just as my biological relatives have every right to choose to answer or not answer those questions. I am putting this information out there because I would love to find any biological relatives in order to get to know more about my ancestry and heritage‚ and to know if I am at increased risk for certain health conditions. I am not looking to disrupt anyone’s life or family‚ or to cause pain or harm to anyone. I would just love to to know a little bit about the people who are part of my genetic heritage‚ since they played a part in who I have become today. I would welcome contact from any biological relatives who might be interested in getting to know me. If you are reading this in whatever capacity‚ thanks for helping in my search!
