Hi‚ my name is Rachel Mertz. I am a cousin of a baby who was given up for adoption in 1996. The child was named Crystal Lynn Fortin at the time her parents were ordered by the Court of of the State of Nevada in and for the County of Washoe to relinquish their parental rights. The biological parents are: James Norman Fortin and Cathy Lynn Mertz Fortin‚ also known as Cathy Lynn Mertz Orchard and also known as Cathy Lynn Mertz Michener. There was a petition "praying for the termination of parental rights" over Crystal and the petition was set for the court‚ Department No. 2 at the County Courthouse in Reno‚ NV on March‚ 22‚ 1996 at 10 am. This was dated: January 9‚ 1996. Judi Bailey‚ Clerk of Court By C. Parsley Deputy Clerk (Seal) No. 488. February‚ March 1‚ 8. Bible‚ Hoy‚ Trachock WAdhams Attys. I have never met Crystal‚ but I have always wondered about her and prayed for her. I have done Ancestry and my Aunt‚ (Cathy’s sister) has done 23 and Me Ancestry - we always hope we will find a match‚ but so far have not. If Crystal is searching at any point in her life we would love to meet her.
